- Try recycling that used paper in the office
- Turn off the water when you are brushing your teeth
- Plant a tree, flowers in the yard or a container garden
- Walk to lunch rather than driving or if it's too far to walk, try carpooling.

Mother Earth
As Mothers Day is fast approaching please remember that Planet Earth is home to all humankind and the plants and animals that inhabit this place with us. Why have we been so cruel to her? She provides a place for us to exist and in return we litter her waters, air and soil. Let us not destroy our home. Somewhere along the line we lost the awe and appreciation that many early cultures had for the Earth. Let’s learn to appreciate and celebrate her again. We can’t move mountains but if everyone makes tiny steps in the right direction I believe we will make a difference. After all, Rome wasn’t built in a day.
I challenge you to use Mothers Day to celebrate Planet Earth in addition to celebrating your biological Mother. Do something small such as start recycling in your home. Better yet, introduce your Mother to recycling if this is a new concept to her. Many older people lived through the disposable age where they are not used to recycling, reusing and repurposing items. All you have to do is get a few separate containers and separate the glass, aluminum and plastic from the other garbage. This would be a great way to celebrate Mothers Day. You get to spend time with your Mom and do something great for the environment simultaneously. That’s multitasking at its best.
Here’s wishing you and your Mom a terrific Mothers Day!!
